Stress Is Inevitable

Stress is inevitable!

Facing stress, like change, is quite a constant thing in our life, right? Sure, our ancestors faced different stressful situations than us, but today, we still face stressful situations: the ones that modern society is throwing at us.. Overall, our response to acute stress stayed the same. When something stressful happens, our brain interprets it as a danger or threat. The brain gets therefore into “alert mode” hormones are spread in our body incl. adrenaline and cortisol. Meanwhile, our body is responding to stress too. This is the freeze, flight or fight stress response. Once the stressful situation is finished, ideally, our brain and body get back to normal.

Our stressors and how we react when we feel stressed is very personal, defining stress is kind of individual but overall we feel stressed when we get overwhelmed by increasing demands and we feel we don’t have enough capacity/resources to deal with those stressors.

Overall, let's befriend stress, it can actually serve us well sometimes and let's keep some control over it so it stays short-term and doesn't become chronic.

Try those tips in the below video “3 Tips to Respond to Stressful Situations” to respond instead of reacting to your triggers.
